It was a difficult choice, but we wanted to create the best Barbera... and we have managed sacrificing a site of Nebbiolo da Barolo grapes to plant in 1966 a vineyard of only 1200 Barbera vines. The coupled plant is the S04, strong and little productive, from which it gets small quantities but the great richness. To the selection of the grapes comes the production of an anciente vineyard: 700 vines planted in the late 1945 on the hill Surì Disa. This alliance gives us an extremely vigorous wine, which arrives almost every year at 14 degrees, and in the particularly generous years 14,5. To boast its rich properties and to soften strong character, it is left to refine for 8 months in big casks of Slavonia oak, and again after bottling for another 6 months. The final product is our Barbera, of intense red ruby colour with hints of purple. The taste is complex, berry fruits can be distinguished along with a touch of vanilla, cocoa and leather. To the palate it results full, velvety and with a long persistence. The annual production is of 1,500 bottles. |
